THE COMMUNITY ARCHIVE

Photo Gallery - 1970s

By the 1970s migration from Malta to the United States began to seriously slow. Malta's new found independence gave hope to those at home for jobs in the future. Meanwhile in Detroit the community followed the other ethnic and inner city communities in their flow towards the suburbs. Jobs remained fairly plentiful and those in the community continued to gather for fun events like Boblo Island picnic trips and the always popular soccer club.
