THE COMMUNITY ARCHIVE

Photo Gallery - 1930s

The Great Depression in the 1930s dominates all people's history regardless of ethnicity or location. The economic collapse halted any new migration from Malta. No jobs meant no new migrants for the young community. Life was difficult, particularly as new migrants, some less than ten years in Detroit. But, job or no job, life went on. The Maltese community came together through tried and true activities and organizations. Be it the club, soccer teams, or the Catholic Church, the Maltese stuck together through the worst of times.
